To enhance the competitiveness and efficiency of bean production systems, it is vital to identify and validate genomic regions that are associated with desirable agronomic traits. Key characteristics in this regard include the plant's upright architecture, the number of days for flowering, and resistance to diseases, particularly anthracnose. This approach ensures that these markers can be effectively applied in the context of molecular marker-assisted genetic breeding, leading to significant advances in grain yield and quality. This study aimed to achieve two objectives: 1) Conduct association mapping for plant architecture and number of days to flowering. 2) Validate the SNP marker previously identified as linked to the resistance allele to the Lv238 isolate of Colletotrichum lindemuthianum race 65. To achieve the first objective, the associative mapping approach was used, using a UFLA Diversity Panel with 121 lines genotyped with the BARCBEAN6K_Illumina SNP chip with 5398 SNPs and phenotyped in the field in two seasons. As for validation, the SNP marker ss715646893 (1,165,722bp) was used in an F2 populationof BRS Estilo x BRS Valente and another diversity panel with 49 accessions from synthesis and genotyping with the TaqMan™ probe. Resistance to the Lv238 isolate is controlled by a single gene (R 2 = 72%), mapped to a region of chromosome 4 that has 17 repeat kinase receptor proteins (LRR- RLKs ). The association mapping result identified 2 SNPs for upright architecture and another 2 SNPs for the number of days to flowering. These SNPs were identified on chromosomes Pv08 and Pv10. Regarding validation, the genotyping system based on TaqMan™ hydrolysis assays for the SNP marker ss715646893 was specific for the CoF target allele. The SNP marker ss715646893 had a recombination frequency of 11.40% and a selection efficiency of 94.80% in the F2 population. The results highlighted the importance of identifying and validating molecular markers associated with target alleles for traits of agronomic importance in common bean. This strategy is critical for choosing parents and genotypes that possess alleles of interest. It increases selection efficiency and promotes greater gains per unit of time for bean breeding genetic programs.
