RESUMO:

Corn is one of the most cultivated grains in the country and its wide cultivation with the adoption
of the second crop (Safrinha) planting has contributed to increase the incidence of some diseases.
The corn stunt complex called maize bushy stunt phytoplasma (MBSP) and corn stunt
spiroplasma (CSS), in addition the viruses that cause Maize Rayado Fino Virus (MRFV) and the
Sugarcane Mosaic Virus (SCMV), has become increasingly important ahead of high incidence
and difficulty to control. The use of cultivars with tolerance is the most efficient alternative for
the control of corn stunt and virus complex. In this work, a study was carried out to identify
genes with significant associations using SNP (Single Nucleotide Polymorphism) markers and
uncover novel promising sources of tolerance to corn stunt and virus disease complex. The inbred
lines of the populations studied were genotyped with the Illumina platform. The experiment to
phenotyping the hybrids was carried out in Luis Eduardo Magalhães – BA – Brazil. The
identification of genes with significant associations in maize genotypes that confer tolerance to
these diseases can be a useful tool to support the development of improved populations for this
trait.
