The Graduate Program in Water Resources (PPGRH) was created by the professors of the UFLA Water and Soil Engineering Research Group, and it began its activities in 2010. It is the result of the dismemberment of the concentration area in Water and Soil Engineering of the Graduate Program in Agricultural Engineering, created in the 80's. Its central theme is the evaluation, use and management of water resources in agricultural systems, being structured in two research lines: Irrigation and drainage, and Hydrology. Its goal is the training of excellence professionals at the master's and doctorate levels, whether to act as researchers, professors, extensionists or managers. Currently, the program has concept 5 in Capes evaluation (2017/2020), having financial subsidies by national and international funding agencies, semiannual selection processes and partnerships with institutions at home and abroad. The Irrigation research line aims to qualify students in irrigation projects and management, involving quantification and monitoring of water consumption by crops, abstraction and transport of surface and groundwater, irrigation systems hydraulics, systems and equipment evaluation, studies concerning the movement of water and soil contaminants. The research line Hydrology in Agricultural Systems aims to qualify the student to develop studies on hydrological processes in watersheds, addressing monitoring, qualitative and quantitative analysis, hydrological modeling, management of water resources, assessment of climatic scenarios and use of soil and soil hydrology.
