Genetics and Plant Breeding - Professional Master's Degree

The Professional Master's Degree in Plant Genetics and Breeding was developed with the purpose of promoting the qualification of human resources working in public or private companies in activities related to plant breeding programs. The course was created in 2011 and the first class joined it in March 2012. The program has the area of concentration in Genetics and Plant Breeding with two lines of research: POPULATION GENETICS, QUANTITATIVE AND MOLECULAR AND GENETICS AND IMPROVEMENT OF ECONOMIC IMPORTANT PLANTS FOR AGRIBUSINESS. The program has been attended by students linked to different national/multinational companies operating in the field of plant breeding of various cultures and the undergraduate theses are developed with support, dealing with topics of interest to the companies to which they are linked. . The Professional Master's Degree in Plant Genetics and Breeding works on a partially on-site basis with the conduction of face-to-face condensed classes and the elaboration of distance learning activities. New students are admitted annually through a selection process. This free course receives direct support from the FAPEMIG funding agency and indirectly through the support to the Graduate Program in Plant Genetics and Breeding (academic), the funding agencies CAPES and CNPq.
